Great works in the Port of Shanghai
A challenging project: the Port of Shanghai is investing 55 billion renminbi (about EUR 8 billion) in a new container terminal, Chinese media reported. The expansion is expected to amplify annual handling capacity to 60 million teu.
The Shanghai Port Group also recently announced that it is planning the construction of container terminals and other projects in the northern operating area of the Yangshan deep-water port.
According to this information, the Xiaoyangshan North Project, the counterstone of the development, will comprise a total of 22 berths. Of these, seven 70,000 t and fifteen 20,000 t container berths and ancillary facilities are to be built with a planned annual handling capacity of 11.6 million teu. (sh)
