Groundbreaking at BHM

Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) is preparing to start construction of a USD 27 million air cargo facility. The new building will be the home-base for a new line of business that includes a scheduled international cargo service already in operation between the airport in Alabama and Stuttgart, Germany.

The construction process of the 4,900 sqm facility (4,500 sqm of warehouse space) is expected to take ten months and be completed in the spring of 2024.

Darlene Wilson, chair of the Birmingham Airport Authority: "This has been a long-term goal of the airport and to see it all coming together is a huge win for our community. We have the infrastructure in place. We have the best partners in the business. And we have the determination to continue building on what we established earlier this year." (ah)
