Groupage by rail from China to Germany
A new rail service for shipping groupage containers on the 11,000 km route from Yiwu (China) to Duisburg (Germany) has been established an international transport provider. The offer, set up by Militzer & Münch, caters for the demand for groupage rail services from the economically flourishing triangle formed by Shanghai, Ningbo and Yiwu in eastern China.
The 40 ft containers are stuffed in the port city Ningbo and then transported by truck for about 200 km to Yiwu, where the boxes are loaded onto trains. The trip from China via Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and Poland to Duisburg takes 14 – 16 days. Once in Duisburg, the goods are prepared for onforwarding to destinations in Europe. (ben)
