Growing in Central America and Australia


John Menzies has agreed to acquire 51% of Interexpresso Costa Rica which will see the company's footprint expand in Central America. Interexpresso's core business relates to cargo handling and aviation security services (cargo document handling, cargo security screening and aircraft access control). Its operations are based in San José, the capital of Costa Rica, with additional operations in Guatemala and El Salvador.

 

In the Oceania region, Menzies has secured new business with Virgin Australia in Australia. From mid-October the company will provide ground services at Darwin, Cairns and Queenstown and will also provide air cargo services at Darwin.

 

Overall, the contracts will see Menzies handle 8,000 flights and 6,500 t of cargo per annum at a total of ten locations for Virgin Australia. (ah)
