GW goes green in Greenland

Gebrüder Weiss (GW) is providing logistical support for a climate research project in Greenland. Scientists will venture onto the ice sheet to measure its thickness and density. Covering the distance largely on foot or on skis, the research team will stick to sustainable modes of transport.

Around 600 km of the route along the 70th parallel north from the west coast (Kangerlussuaq) to the east (Isortoq) will be completed on skis, each of which has a sled in tow.

With GW’s support for the equipment, the scientists will take measurements of the ice sheet to compare current values with previous observations. After the month-long expedition, the results will be sent to a university in Australia, where they will be analysed. More updates on the development of the project will be posted on GW’s social media channels. (mk)
