Hamburg Süd enhances Asia/Pacific services

Starting in October 2019, Hamburg Süd, an affiliate of Maersk, will enlarge the scope of its “AUSE” service between Australia and Southeast Asia. The service will be split into two strings called “AUSE 1” and “AUSE 2” in order to offer faster transit times to the markets in Australia and southeast Asia.

Furthermore, there will be new direct calls at Port Kelang (Malaysia) and Jakarta (Indonesia). A so-called express service will link Brisbane (Australia) to Southeast Asia, arriving in Singapore in twelve days, as well as in the opposite direction from Southeast Asia to Fremantle, Adelaide and Brisbane.

The “AUSE 1” string will be equipped with seven vessels with a nominal capacity of 8,500 teu, heading first to Fremantle and running counter-clockwise around Australia. The “AUSE 2” string consists of six ships at a nominal capacity of 5,700 teu, sailing first to Brisbane, with a clockwise rotation around Australia. The same Australian ports will be covered on both routes. (cd)
