HHLA defied challenges of 2022

The port logistics group Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA) posted good total revenues at the end of 2022 and is expecting as much for 2023.

Indeed, despite the changing geopolitical environment which has impacted transport services, HHLA’s revenue in 2022 rose by 7.7% to EUR 1,578.4 million, against EUR 1,465.4 million for the previous year. The prospects for 2023 are as follows: total revenue on a par with the previous year and ebit in a range between EUR 160 to 190 million.

For CEO Angela Titzrath, "HHLA achieved a good result and proved its efficiency," even though container throughput decreased by 7.9% to 6.396 million teu and total cargo volumes to the Far East shipping region also declined. 2023 is expected to witness a moderate year-on-year increase in both container throughput and container transport.
