HMM's fleet growing faster
The South Korean carrier HMM, formerly Hyundai Merchant Marine, will deploy its latest newbuilds earlier than expected. The eight vessels with a capacity of approx. 15,300 teu were ordered by HMM in 2018, delivery was scheduled for the first half of 2021.
In March, two of these ships are set to join the Asia-North Europe FE4 service offered by The Alliance. HMM will receive the remaining six vessels before the end of the midyear.
The arrival of the eight newbuilds next month will add 128,000 teu to HMM's fleet, taking the carrier's capacity to 857,000 teu in total. (cd)
