Hong Kong reports growth and milestones

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) handled 5 million t of cargo in fiscal 2024/25, marking a 10.3% year-on-year rise. The airport retained its title as the world’s busiest cargo hub for the 14th time since 2010.

The value of shipments handled via the Dongguan sea-air logistics park rose to around USD 2.5 billion, supporting intermodal development in the Greater Bay Area. AAHK also began construction on a permanent Dongguan facility and finalised a 35% stake in Zhuhai Airport to strengthen cross-border cargo flows.

The commissioning of HKIA’s third runway in late 2024 raised total airport capacity by 50%, consolidating its role as a leading aviation and logistics gateway in Asia. HKIA is now served by 140 airlines flying to over 200 global destinations. (ah)
