Humantarian respones in Pakistan - now and then
Further to Xinhua, Pakistan has received the first batch of flood relief supplies from China, including 300 tents and 9,000 blankets, flown by two Y-20 transport aircraft from Zhengzhou to Islamabad. The aid, valued at USD 14 million, supports communities hit by severe monsoon flooding that has caused hundreds of deaths and major damage since June.
Exactly twenty years ago, on 8 October 2005, Pakistan faced another national catastrophe when a 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck Kashmir. Air Charter Service (ACS) played a decisive role in the global response, coordinating 78 relief flights and more than 100 helicopter rotations to deliver 3,500 t of emergency cargo and evacuate the injured from remote mountain areas. The company later described the mission as one of the most complex logistical undertakings in its history – a benchmark for rapid humanitarian response and international cooperation that still resonates as Pakistan once again relies on global support.
