Huncoat railfreight terminal gaining momentum

A proposed railfreight terminal in Huncoat, in Northern England, took a step forward as local MP Sarah Smith (pictured on the right) confirmed that it’s a top priority for chancellor Rachel Reeves, who is reviewing 150 national infrastructure projects.

At a recent 'AmazingAccrington' event for the project in the Oswaldtwistle Mills shopping village and garden centre, attended by business leaders, educators and local schools, they heard that it could bring over 2,800 jobs to the area, according to 'AmazingAccrington'.

Furthermore the managing director of Oswaldtwistle Mills, Nick Pitman, stated that "with 800,000 visitors a year, we’re proud to play a major role in the local visitor economy — bringing people to the area, supporting jobs and showcasing what our community has to offer." (js)
