Hungarians investing in e-hybrid locomotive
The first locomotive developed for Rail Cargo Hungaria (RCH) rolled off the production line of the Chinese company CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive recently. According to a contract signed in 2019, CRRC will develop electro-hybrid shunters and high-power mainline locomotives with zero emissions, optimised for freight transport in accordance with the parameters provided by Rail Cargo Hungaria.
Two vehicles of each type have now been developed, and if they meet Rail Cargo Hungaria’s expectations, then CRRC will produce more of the locomotives. RCH will deploy the units in Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Northern Macedonia, Greece and Bulgaria. The production of the shunting locomotive is also scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
