IAG Cargo flies the dinosaur

The British Natural History Museum (NHM) confirmed IAG Cargo as its official exhibition logistics partner for its upcoming exhibition "Titanosaur: Life as the biggest dinosaur" back in November 2022.

Now, the cargo division of International Airlines Group has safely delivered one of the largest dinosaurs to walk the Earth on a shipment from Buenos Aires to London. With an estimated 37 m, Patagotitan mayorum is around the same length as an A320 or four double decker buses.

The journey of the once 57 t weighing creature, comparable to nine African elephants, started in Trelow, Argentina, where Patagotitan was dismantled into over 40 crates, loaded in the bellyhold of two British Airways B787-9.

Upon landing at Heathrow, the freight was transported to a special facility ahead of its journey to the NHM where it will be re-assembled ready for public display from 31 March 2023. (ah)
