Iata exasperated by ‘Placi’ delays

In 2019 the timeline for the implementation of the EU’s ‘Pre-loading advance cargo information system’ (Placi) from 1 March 2023 was adopted. Although it has now gone officially live, some of Europe’s biggest air cargo airports are located in the twelve EU member states that aren’t ready for ‘Placi’, namely Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Greece, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Sweden.

Brendan Sullivan, Iata’s global head of cargo, said that “the delayed implementation of ‘Placi’ in twelve European states has to be urgently addressed. With supply chain difficulties already impacting people and businesses, the risk of greater custom clearance delays has to be avoided. These states must urgently provide the necessary clarity to enable airlines to adapt their own implementation planning.” (ah)
