In the leading group

Camion Transport supports professional bicycle races. From the Tour de Romandie to the Tour de Suisse. With extended partnerships, sustainable logistics and a strong presence in Western Switzerland the family-run firm demonstrates in its centenary year how movement and responsibility go hand in hand.

100 years old – and still going strong! (See page 16 of ITJ 5/2025.) Camion Transport was once again in the thick of the action when the Tour de Romandie rolled through Western Switzerland from 28 April to 3 May 2025.

The logistics firm, headquartered in Wil (Switzerland), has been an official partner of the regional cycling tour for five years. With equipment depots, planning and transport between the stage towns, its well-coordinated team ensures smooth operations behind the scenes.

In 2024 the successful cooperation was extended for another three years. “We’re proud that our service quality has earned the organiser’s trust. We’ll continue to be part of this road cycling event with full commitment,” said Michel Cavin, head of sales for Romandie and the logistics coordinator at Camion Transport.

The enterprise’s ties to cycling go back further – its involvement with the Tour de Suisse began 20 years ago. This year’s edition took place from 15-22 June. Since then, the family firm has been closely involved in organising Switzerland’s biggest cycling tour – as a ‘prime partner’ since 2023. The agreement was recently extended to 2027.

Thousands of kilometres, countless stages and even more goosebumps – “this partnership is built on trust, equality and shared values,” the firm underlined. One innovation in 2025 allows fans to take part through the ‘TdS Explorer’ and ride a stage themselves.

What’s more, the Tour de Suisse Women (12-15 June) will take place before the men’s event for the first time this year – a clear statement in favour of equality and visibility in professional cycling.

Sustainability a top priority

Both partnerships share a core value – a commitment to sustainability. Camion Transport focuses on multimodal transport, low-emission deliveries and the systematic bundling of goods flows.

In cities such as Geneva and Lausanne in the western part of Switzerland, electric vehicles are already part of its daily operations. The aim is to connect ecological and economic goals intelligently – not to play them off against each other.

Strong in the Romandie with a hearty hub

Camion Transport has been active in Geneva since 1975 and in the Lausanne region since 1987. Western Switzerland is now an integral part of its network – a point that was also emphasised by chairman of the board Josef Jäger. “A network without a strong hub in Romandie? That’s unthinkable for us. A region can only thrive economically with a reliable logistics network – and we help to provide that in the Romandie too.”

The renewed partnership with the Tour de Romandie reflects this regional commitment – and highlights the overall success of a cooperative effort based on an equal footing.
