Istanbul–Iceland link boosts Turkey–US cargo flows
Icelandair Cargo has launched operations in Turkey, in partnership with Globe Air Cargo Turkiye, a subsidiary of the ECS Group.
From today, 5 September 2025, four weekly Boeing B737 Max flights will connect Istanbul (IST) with Keflavik (KEF), linking Turkish exporters with Icelandair’s trans-Atlantic network to the USA and Europe. Target commodities include textiles, automotive parts and machinery.
"The expertise of Globe Air Cargo Turkiye, combined with the ECS Group’s digital resources, ensures our customers will experience efficiency from the beginning," said Einar Már Guðmundsson, managing director of Icelandair Cargo. ECS Group CEO Jean Ceccaldi emphasised the combination of local expertise with global reach, while Ersun Guven, managing director of Globe Air Cargo Turkiye, highlighted the GSSA’s role in supporting growth. The move marks Icelandair Cargo’s first entry into the Turkish market. (ah)
