JAL to bring back maindeck capacity

Japan Airlines (JAL) has decided to introduce three Boeing 767-300ER freighters. This will be the first time in 13 years that the airline will operate its own freighters.

Starting sequentially from the end of FY/2023, the aircraft will be offering international flights mainly to East Asia, with domestic flights to be added at a later date to improve aircraft utilisation while maximising the cargo loading ratio. The carrier also plans to offer charter and non-scheduled flights. To ensure stable and growing demand, a new business model will accompany the introduction of the B777F.

Moreover, JAL will strengthen its air transport capabilities to meet the logistics needs arising from the "2024 issue" - the shortage of truck drivers due to the revision of labour regulations - and contribute to solving social issues based on logistics. (ah)
