Joining forces to complete Eurasian Corridor via Kaliningrad


Russian Railways (RZD) and Austrian Railways (ÖBB) intend to cooperate in the field of freight and logistics. During a meeting, the two parties talked about the development of the Eurasian corridor via the terminals in the Kaliningrad region (Russia).

 

The railway companies also plan to introduce electronic data exchange in freight transportation by international rail links and the distribution of digital services, according to RZD. Another important topic which was discussed was to build a 1,520 mm broad gauge railway line between Kosice, Bratislava (Slovakia) and Vienna (Austria).

 

Freight traffic between Russia and Austria increased by 8.8% in H1/2019 compared to the same period last year. (ben)
