Kalitta Air to operate two "new" converted freighters soon
AerCap Cargo has delivered the first two Boeing 777-300ERSF passenger-to-freighter converted aircraft to Kalitta Air, including the prototype certification unit. The aircraft arrived at Kalitta’s facility in Oscoda, Michigan on 12 and 13 September and are set to enter commercial service early this month.
Kalitta Air is the launch operator of the 777-300ERSF, part of its long-term plan to replace ageing 747 freighters. Certified by both the CAAI and FAA, the aircraft offers a 100 t payload and is designed to lower CO₂ emissions by up to 20% compared to legacy widebody freighters. AerCap expects further units from the seven-aircraft deal to follow in the coming weeks. Kalitta plans to deploy the aircraft on high-volume long-haul cargo routes. (ah)
