Kalmar completes STS crane repair at JNPA Mumbai
Kalmar has finalised the repair of a ship-to-shore crane (STS) at Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal (NSFT) in Mumbai, operated under the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA).
The project, booked in Q2/2024, focused on restoring the crane’s structural integrity and was completed in January 2025. Kalmar, under its modernisation services, repaired a damaged crane leg to ensure continued safe and efficient container handling.
JNPA’s Milind Chimote praised the refurbishment as a sustainable choice. Kalmar’s regional head Alejandro Martinez highlighted the team’s technical precision and alignment with legal standards as keys to the project’s success.
JNPA handles nearly 50% of India’s containerised cargo and operates the terminal through a joint venture with JM Baxi and CMA. (ah)
