Khazan-Radzhin railway line reopened

The Khazan (Russia)-Radzhin (North Korea) railway line has reopened after being refurbished. The construction work costing EUR 128 million included laying a 54 km track on the Radzhin-Tumangan route as well as reconstructing 18 bridges, 12 water pipelines and three tunnels with a total length of 4.5 km. Furthermore, signalling, centralisation, blocking and connecting facilities were upgraded. Final work is still ongoing at the transhipment terminal in the port of Radzhin. 4 million t of goods are handled there annually. (ben)
