Koch becomes Rhenus' new head of ocean freight Europe
Rhenus has appointed Thorsten Koch as head of ocean freight Europe, effective 1 October 2025. Koch, who joined the group in 2019, has held key roles including head of product management ocean Germany and regional head of ocean FCL Northern Europe. In these positions he expanded services, enhanced customer solutions and drove growth in core markets.
In his new role he will oversee both LCL and FCL operations across the continent, reporting to Renée Toh, VP global ocean freight, with a cross-functional line to Alberto Martinez, CEO air & ocean Europe. According to Martinez, Koch’s appointment is a natural progression for someone who has consistently demonstrated strategic vision and operational excellence, and his leadership will be central in shaping the next chapter of Rhenus’ ocean freight business.
