Last-mile facility for Amazon

Panattoni is developing another property for Amazon Logistics, the division that handles Amazon's last mile deliveries. In Magdeburg (Saxony Anhalt, Germany), Panattoni will set up a 6,666 sqm logistics area and 1,025 sqm of office and social spaces on a 60,000 sqm site.

This is the fourth occasion that Amazon and Panattoni are working on a joint project. With the new distribution hub, for which Amazon will take out a long-term lease, the online trader will manage its "last-mile" logistics in the B2C business.

The building concept developed by Amazon combines the traditional distribution centre with a cross-dock concept in which vehicles load the parcels along the side of the centre. Special awnings protect drivers and cargo from bad weather. This design also guarantees flexibility that allows the use of the building for a different purpose at a later date. (mw)
