Lauterbourg Rhine Terminal comes into play

A new player, the enterprise Lauterbourg Rhine Terminal, will operate a new multimodal terminal from September 2020 onwards, under the umbrella of the French inland port of Strasbourg (PAS). It will offer container handling services on a 6 ha terminal by the river. The facility’s trimodal handling capacity is 80,000 teu per year.

Lauterbourg Rhine Terminal was created in February specifically to operate the multimodal terminal. The company won a tender launched on 18 December 2018. The contract is for an initial term of five years and includes renewal options of up to 15 years, depending on investments carried out.

The firm combines different French and German companies: Paris Terminal; Compagnie Fluviale de Transport (CFT), a subsidiary of the Sogestran Group; Haeger & Schmidt and the port of Strabourg itself, France's second-largest inland port. (mw).
