Less cargo theft in Brazilian hot spots

Sensitech’s supply change intelligence centre has published its most recent report on cargo theft in Brazil. According to its findings, cargo theft in São Paulo decreased by 1% in Q1/2021 in comparison to Q4/2020, while in Rio de Janeiro, the decline was 3% from Q4/2020. Food & drinks and tobacco were on top of the list of stolen products.

Sensitech underlined that hijacking continues to dominate operations in the field. With regards to the time of the day, most cargo thefts occur in the morning hours and in urban areas. Yet, the overall picture shows that there is no time for rest. While São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro have experienced decreases in cargo theft, the rate is starting to rise in other parts of the country. (sh)
