Lloyd’s List Intelligence appoints CEO
Lloyd’s List Intelligence has named Waqas Samad as its new chief executive officer. He succeeds Michael Dell, who led the company since 2018 and will continue as a board advisor. During his tenure, Dell oversaw the transition from Informa into a standalone business, the launch of a modern portfolio of maritime intelligence solutions and record organic growth, including the firm’s first acquisition in early 2025.
Samad brings more than 30 years of international experience in finance, data and technology, with senior roles at LSEG, including as CEO of FTSE Russell, and at Barclays Risk Analytics. He will focus on global expansion and innovation as geopolitical shifts increase demand for intelligence-driven trade and shipping solutions. Board chair Gehan Talwatte welcomed his leadership at this pivotal moment. (ah)
