Logistics UK honours Prestwick Airport

Glasgow Prestwick Airport has been named "Air Freight Business of the Year" at the "Logistics UK Awards", recognising its cargo development over the past twelve months. According to its own information the airport expanded its role as a UK gateway for trade with Asia and Europe through new scheduled freighter services, increased handling capacity and long term development. In 2025, Prestwick became the UK base for Air China Cargo, China Southern Airlines and Beijing Capital Airlines, together operating sixteen weekly full-freighter flights to Chengdu, Guangzhou and Zhengzhou.

As the airport reported cargo volumes and flight rotations increased during the year, alongside the recruitment of more than 150 additional staff. The airport also invested in dedicated e-commerce facilities, with Royal Mail and EVRi establishing operations at the site. Further investment in ground support equipment, cool chain and screening facilities is planned for 2026. Nico Le Roux (pictured), Business Development Director, Glasgow Prestwick Airport, accepted the award in the name of the airport at the ceremony held in London.
