Looking to Africa

Two new partners bridge continental divide. BigMove, an alliance of medium-sized heavylift logistics enterprises, is looking to gain a foothold in Africa. To this end it has added a new partner for collaborative efforts to its network – Jonmoore International Limited, headquartered in Ghana.

The BigMove consortium announced the fact recently that the expansion of its business operations beyond Europe’s borders will focus on a new partner. By collaborating closely with Jonmoore International Limited, from Ghana, the heavy haulage logistics network will be able to gain a foothold in Africa. The cooperative approach will implement joint projects and exchange know-how across borders.

BigMove pointed out that its new African partner will fortify the network in Ghana as well as in other West African market for heavy goods transport. Jonmoore may be managed from its headquarters in Tema (Ghana), but it operates in eight more countries, including Liberia, Niger, Mali and Senegal. It’s also planning to expand into East Africa in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The Ghanaian heavylift logistician operates a fleet of more than 90 special transporters as well as several cranes, and specialises primarily in transporting and assembling large equipment for fossil fuel extraction and power generation. The company is also considered a West African expert for complicated cross-border heavy goods transport tasks.

In a joint media release the new partners underlined the fact that they have a similar service profile. Some joint projects for the partnership are already in the pipeline.

Olaf Beckedorf, the chairman of the board of BigMove, said that “this latest collaboration effort offers us new opportunities in international markets and opens up great perspectives in the growing heavylift segment – especially in the field of raw materials exploration.”

Jonmoore CEO Hilton John Mitchell also sees many advantages as well as valuable synergy effects arising from the partnership. BigMove and Jonmoore together have access to more than 600 vehicles.
