Maasvlakte completes secure chain rollout
All deepsea terminals at Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte now verify the executing transport company at the gate by matching the EAN code on the driver’s ‘CargoCard’ with that registered in the ‘Portbase’ system.
This final step has sealed the secure chain, which enables a secure, PIN-free container release process involving only known and authorised parties. The joint initiative by industry and government aims to strengthen digital resilience in port logistics.
The secure chain applies to all intercontinental import containers and is implemented through the port’s community system. By fully digitalising handovers it ensures visibility, prevents misuse and supports smarter data use in the supply chain. (ah)
