Mallace follows Melvin and takes the helm at SC Ports

Seven weeks after the sudden resignation of Barbara Melvin, the South Carolina Ports Authority has named Micah Mallace as its new president and CEO following a unanimous board vote. A Charleston native, Mallace previously served as chief commercial officer at SC Ports and later as president of Harbor Logistics, specialising in drayage, warehousing and transload operations.

"I’m humbled by the opportunity to lead SC Ports and further strengthen our competitiveness," he said. Board chairman Bill Stern praised Mallace’s "vision and nuts-and-bolts knowledge" of the maritime industry.

SC Ports operates marine terminals in Charleston and two inland ports in Greer and Dillon, ranking as the eighth-largest container port in the US. The port system supports one in nine jobs in South Carolina. (ah)
