Many challenges well managed
2019 was an iconic year for Operail from several aspects, the Estonian railway operator said. The company entered a new market and established a subsidiary for servicing cargo transport in Finland, expanded the list of services rendered, took some significant steps with regard to providing more economical transport solutions and managed to show very good financial results.
In 2019, Operail earned a net profit of EUR 9.6 million, improved its sales revenue to EUR 75.4 million and increased ebitda by 8% to EUR 17 million.
Operail's wagon rental business also continued to grow, with revenues rising by 40% from the previous year, to EUR 12.9 million. Freight volumes remained on the same level as in the previous year with 13.2 million t of transported freight. (ben)
