Maritime Transport expanding its inland network

Maritime Transport has launched two new intermodal rail services connecting DP World London Gateway to its inland terminals at Hams Hall and iPort Doncaster.

Operated in partnership with GB Railfreight, the services respond to rising container volumes at the port, which is undergoing a GBP 1 billion capacity expansion as the company reported. Running Monday to Saturday, the new connections aim to strengthen Maritime’s national network and support a modal shift from road to rail.

Maritime Transport will introduce more services in the coming weeks, linking key UK ports to its network of nine railfreight terminals. "Rail plays a hugely important role in our national supply chains", said Julie Garn, intermodal director at GB Railfreight. (js)
