Menzies takes over Oslo's Spirit Cargo Handling

Menzies Aviation has taken over Spirit Cargo Handling from SAS Ground Handling Norway, marking its entry into Norway’s air cargo market. The acquisition includes a Spirit warehouse at Oslo Gardermoen airport (OSL), all employee contracts and existing freighter operations.

Once integrated, the facility will be rebranded under the Menzies name, expanding the company’s cargo handling capacity by 150,000 t annually. The focus will be on high-demand products such as salmon, general cargo and freighter services.

EVP for Europe Miguel Gomez Sjunnesson said the deal strengthens Menzies’ cargo network and reflects confidence in the sector’s long-term growth. EVP for cargo Beau Paine confirmed that the move expands Menzies’ global cargo footprint to 73 stations, which handled 2.4 million t last year.

Safety and service quality remain top priorities as the teams work to ensure a smooth and secure transition at OSL. (ah)
