Miami air cargo stakeholders discuss e-commerce strategy
Last week (wk 2), Miami-Dade aviation department (MDAD) officials - pictured are chief of staff Joseph Napoli (far right) and marketing division director Chris Mangos - met more than 30 local air cargo industry stakeholders at a first strategy workshop. The goal is to establish Miami-Dade County as one of the world’s leading e-commerce hubs.
Market research firm eMarketer forecasts that Latin America, which no other US airport connects more than Miami FL, will be a strong e-commerce growth region, with a projected doubling of annual sales from USD 47.4 billion in 2015 to USD 84.8 billion in 2019.
Additionally, the airport's overall trade with Asia, the world’s e-commerce leader, has grown by 40% in value from USD 4.8 billion in 2011 to USD 6.7 billion in 2016. (ah)
