                        Migros streamlining distribution
From 1 July, Swiss retailer Migros will consolidate the logistics operations of its four cooperatives in western Switzerland – Geneva, Neuchâtel-Fribourg, Vaud and Valais – under a single umbrella.
The entity, Migros Logistique Romande (MLR), will be centred on Ecublens, with regional hubs in Geneva and Martigny. MLR already operates joint cold chain logistics and will now coordinate all services for the region.
According to Migros all 500 logistics employees will transfer to the new organisation under unchanged employment conditions. Migros COO Rainer Baumann stated that the shift reflects the group’s broader logistics strategy, creating robust structures that support both regional and group needs. (js)
