Mindanao working on its equipment

In the North of the Philippine island of Mindanao, the port and terminal operator International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) is upgrading its facilities in the region.

The Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) in the province of Misamis Oriental has acquired a mobile harbour crane (MHC). The unit will augment the terminal’s existing quay cranes to enhance overall vessel handling capability by enabling the simultaneous handling of two longer ships. The MHC will be operational by December 2022.

Earlier in March, MCT deployed two new rubber tyred gantries to increase the efficiency of its landside operations.

MCT’s acquisition of additional port equipment is part of its ongoing expansion programme. This comes after the 100 m berth extension and the installation of dolphin mooring and inland bollards back in 2020. (sh)
