More air cargo capacity between Canada and Cuba
Calgary-based WestJet Cargo has expanded its network following the integration of Sunwing Airlines, adding freight service to Holguin, Santa Clara and Varadero in Cuba. The move enhances cargo capacity to the Caribbean, with up to 2.5 t available per flight.
Toronto–Varadero is now served daily, with Santa Clara four times weekly and Holguin three times. Montréal gains daily Varadero and four-times-weekly Holguin connections.
Director Julius Mooney said the added belly capacity supports throughput in eastern Canada and strengthens ties with Cuba, Canada’s fourth-largest trading partner. Capacity has also increased to Cancun, Montego Bay, Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and Liberia, reinforcing WestJet’s Caribbean cargo presence. (ah)
