More building materials to shift to rail

Construction company Cemex has invested into its UK rail network, making improvements at several of its depots in the country. These developments support the company’s efforts to increase the use of rail to move its materials. Work was carried out in partnership with MLP Railway and UK infrastructure manager Network rail.

At Selby in North Yorkshire, the track was upgraded so it can take an increased number of wagons per train, and complete turnarounds more efficiently and safely.

At Dove Holes in Buxton, two reception lines were relayed. At Bletchley in Milton Keynes, walkways were improved, and CCTV and a waterproof display screen for offloading were installed. (ben)
