More capacity and new cargo platform

Cebu Pacific has signed a firm order with Airbus for 16 long-range A330neo. The order firms up the wide-body portion of a previously announced MoU, which also includes commitments for ten A321XLR and five A320neo single-aisle aircraft. It concerns a higher-capacity version of the A330-900, with up to 33 ULD underfloor. The carrier based in the Philippines plans to operate the aircraft on trunk routes within the Philippines, the rest of Asia and on longer range services to Australia and the Middle East.

Cebu Pacific also intends to make the newly constructed Sangley Airport (SGL) in Cavite the hub of its growing cargo aircraft fleet. In June, airlines agreed to use the airport in Greater Manila adjacent to the Danilo Atienza air base, for general aviation including freight turboprop operations. (ah)
