More cargo handling capacity for Vancouver

Maersk and Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) have opened a new hub in Vancouver. The Pacific transload express facility will transload international containers into domestic 53 ft trailers, thus reducing storage costs and speeding up cargo deliveries.

CP will shuttle containers to the facility by rail from Vancouver's three major container terminals. The hub on CP land is adjacent to its Vancouver Intermodal Facility, meaning fewer handoffs and better accountability of service.

The 10,900 sqm and 103 door transloading facility and rail infrastructure was completed in August 2021. The first containers arrived at the new hub last week. (ben)
