FedEx has added a new nonstop cargo flight between Liège and Memphis, increasing weekly frequencies from five to eight. Operated by a Boeing 777 Freighter with a capacity of 68 t per flight, the service boosts FedEx’s transatlantic offering and reinforces Liège’s role as its European intercontinental freight hub.
The expanded schedule supports FedEx’s global strategy to increase density and optimise network utilisation in the EUR 75 billion global airfreight market. Since launching the route in 2017, FedEx has added nonstop connections from Liège to Indianapolis and Oakland.
The company employs 1,300 people at the Belgian airport - more than half from nearby communities—and recently added 130 new jobs. Continuous investment in infrastructure and safety equipment underpins FedEx’s commitment to Wallonia’s economic development. The hub also plays a key role in helping local SMEs access global markets. (ah)
