More international truck traffic in Denmark

In Q3/2013, international truck traffic in Denmark was 3% higher than in the same quarter last year. In Q2/2013 the number of lorries crossing the border into Denmark set a new record with 5,189 passages per day. The figure for Q3/2013 is 4,937, equating to almost 5% less compared to the record quarter. ITD, Denmark's road haulage association, said that the decline is due to the closure for repairs of the motorway bridge across the Kiel Canal. Lorries have been unable to use the bridge since 26 July 2013. Some 33% of the international truck traffic is comprised of German vehicles. The share of Danish vehicles increased to 24%. (ben)
