More than double the amount of premium shipments
Today, 31 May 2023, IAG Cargo is celebrating the official opening of its 10,000 sqm "New Premia" facility at its London Heathrow hub. It will serve as its new home for handling premium loose shipments, enabling to double the amount of cargo managed every day.
To accommodate this capacity increase, focus has been given to designing bespoke IT systems and systems integration to regulate movements through eleven new landside doors and allocations inside the facility. The temperature-controlled building includes a "constant climate" quality centre for pharmaceuticals, with 29 dedicated cool cells and temperature facilities available.
Additionally, the CRT chamber includes two dedicated break and build workstations. The facility is certified under IAG Cargo’s GDP WDA licence. Four large "transfer vehicles" have been introduced to service the 20 new workstations. (ah)
