More vessels purchased

Haifa-based shipping company ZIM Integrated Shipping Services has enlarged its fleet with used units. In October 2021, it purchased seven second-hand vessels in a number of separate transactions. USD 320 million were budgeted for the transaction. The seven vessels, built between 2007 and 2009, include five 4,250 teu vessels and two 1,100 teu vessels.

Eli Glickman, ZIM president & CEO, commented that the company had benefited from its positive cash situation after its recent IPO to acquire "these much-needed vessels."

This may not be the carrier's last move of this kind: "We will continue to complement our primary strategy of chartering-in the vast majority of our vessels, by selectively acquiring second-hand tonnage when the appropriate opportunities arise.” ZIM was founded in Israel in 1945. (sh)
