Moving to a new site in San Diego
In San Diego, DHL has moved to another facility which is about double the size of the previous location. The integrator spoke of an investment of USD 22 million. The service centre, which is near San Diego International Airport (SAN), is currently the company’s third-largest pickup and delivery facility in USA.
With more than 8,000 sqm of warehousing and office space, the new facility handles domestic and time-definite international shipments to and from the 220 countries and territories served by DHL. Its handling system can process up to 6,000 pieces per hour (PPH). DHL is also planning to introduce electric pickup and delivery vehicles and has installed advanced EV charging systems throughout the warehouse. (sh)
