Much space for large merchandise

Hermes Fulfilment Ansbach and Hermes Einrichtungs Service have inaugurated a new logistics hub in Ansbach (Bavaria, Germany).

Spanning a total area of 76,000 sqm and costing EUR 90 million, it is one of Bavaria's largest recently developed real estates. It will be deployed for logistics services for furniture, large electric appliances and other bulky cargo.

On an area of 53,000 sqm, Hermes Fulfilment will use around three thirds of the plot for the storage and order picking of goods for mail-order company Otto. The hub features 47 gates for the unloading of the goods that are delivered by truck. The warehouse also has 52,500 spaces for euro pallets, which are served by high-reach forklifts, and 20,000 sqm of block storage space.

Overall, the hub offers around 40,000 cbm of storage capacity. An intermediate building connects the warehouse with the 15,000 sqm main cargo handling facility run by Hermes Einrichtungs Service. (mw)
