Nelt banking on diversity

Increasing the capacity of its intermodal terminal in Belgrade

The capacity of Nelt’s intermodal terminal in Belgrade has been increased. The facility is located close to a key motorway intersection, and is also near Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla airport. Its railway connections also link it to major European maritime gateways.

Nelt, a diversely-positioned enterprise in the field of distribution and logistics in the western Balkan region, is investing EUR 2 million in increasing the capacity of its intermodal terminal in Belgrade. After expansion the facility will cover a total area of around 30,000 m2.

The upgrade opens up opportunities for the company to receive and manage 1,500 full as well as 5,000 empty containers. At the same time Nelt significantly increased the operability and reliability of the facility by purchasing an additional reachstacker, which is already deployed handling containers on-site today.

Nelt’s supply chain manager Vuk Mijanovic pointed out that “the terminal’s excellent location and its technical advantages mean that it’s recognised as a key Balkans logistics hub. We’re convinced of the importance of combined transport, which is why we continuously invest in the gateway’s further development.”

Good links to every mode

The intermodal hub is well-linked – the E75 / E70 motorway intersection is just 6 km away; Nikola Tesla airport a mere 10 km distant; and in addition to this it’s connected to the ports of Rijeka, Bar and Piraeus by regular railway services.

The terminal’s intermodal flows have grown steadily since it started operations, thanks to Nelt’s established partnerships with global maritime and logistics giants.

In September Nelt was the golden sponsor of Belgrade’s South East Europe Mobility 2021 fair, a regional rail and transport event. It made the best of the occasion to enable exhibitors, guests and friends to visit its complex in Dobanovci and see Nelt’s logistics capacities with their own eyes.
