New AEO status in preparation for Brexit

The internationally recognised quality mark of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) has been awarded to the British Peel Ports Group, which operates six UK ports (Liverpool, Heysham, Manchester Ship Canal, Medway (Sheerness / Chatham), Clydeport and Great Yarmouth).

The Liverpool-based port operator said that achieving AEO status from Her Majesty’s revenue and customs was a “significant milestone”, especially on the path towards Brexit. AEO status is now granted to the following ports: Clydeport Operations, Port of Sheerness, The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, The Manchester Ship Canal Company and Great Yarmouth Port Company.

The accreditation recognises that the ports’ customs controls and procedures meet EU benchmarks to safeguard goods passing through the international supply chain. (cd)
