New direct Med–Africa route

Arkas Line launches a direct weekly route connecting ports in the East Mediterranean and Italy with destinations in West Africa through its Med Africa Service. The service unites the previous Blue Med Service (BMS) and West Africa Service (WAS). Until now, cargo to Africa was handled via transshipment in Morocco; the new MAS route now enables direct access, cutting transit times and increasing efficiency according to the company.

Operated by ten vessels with capacities of 1,600 to 2,500 teu, the service covers ports including Alexandria, Beirut, Mersin, La Spezia, Genoa, Dakar, Lagos, Tema and Barcelona. The first sailing is set for today, 20 October 2025. "This development reflects Arkas Line’s commitment to strengthening regional connections, optimizing the end-to-end logistics chain, and accelerating trade flows," stated the company. (js)
