New equipment for Rostock

An increase in bulk volumes has encouraged Euroports Germany, a major cargo handler based in Rostock's overseas port on the German Baltic Coast, to put another crane, a LHM 280, into operation - at short notice. In order to further expand handling capacity and provide a necessary replacement for two existing harbour cranes, another unit will soon be added to the company's crane fleet.

Moreover, in the summer of 2022, Liebherr will deliver an all-electric LPS 420 E to its neighbour in the port. The fully electric crane will be used to handle all types of goods at this terminal, "including ores, lime, gypsum, wood chips and many more," said Karsten Lentz, managing director of the Euroports Germany Group.

With an outreach of up to 48 m, vessels up to the post-panamax class can be served by the LPS 420 E, which has a maximum lifting capacity of up to 124 t. (sh)
